37th Premiere

20260716_Allianz_Cinema_Zurich_by_Eduard_Meltzer_Z80_4520

Blown Away. Summer decided to test us. Storms, rain, gusts of wind over the Zürichhorn – and you were still there. Around 1,600 of you, to be exact. With good humour and a healthy resistance to bad weather, we kicked off our 37th season on 16 July.

Opening Night – Gone with the Wind.

Every summer, we turn the Zürichhorn into Switzerland's largest open-air cinema. From today, 16 July, until 16 August, we'll be screening films here every evening from 7pm, under the open sky, with a view of the lake.

The opening film could hardly have been a better fit: THE SHEEP DETECTIVES follows a flock of sheep that won't be stopped by anything or anyone. Starring Hugh Jackman as the shepherd and Emma Thompson as his lawyer. Exactly the right tone for an evening that braved the elements - and full of sheep so adorable, we forgot all about the rain.

Now, a whole month of open-air cinema lies ahead. A few highlights:

Every Saturday is dance night. With "Let's Dance," we're screening classics like MAMMA MIA!, GREASE and THE BLUES BROTHERS, plus the Michael Jackson biopic MICHAEL.

On 6 August, things get mysterious: our Surprise Night screens a film nobody knows — not even our own team. Not until it flickers onto the screen that evening.

And on 7 August, catch the preview of THE INVITE, Olivia Wilde's new comedy with Seth Rogen, Penélope Cruz and Edward Norton, celebrated at Sundance.
