Edgar-Jones plays the role of Kate Cooper, a former storm chaser who witnessed a devastating tornado during her college days and now studies the course of storms safely on a computer screen in New York City. Her friend Javi finally persuades her to test a new type of tracking system in the open countryside. There she meets Tyler Owens (Powell), a charming but reckless social media superstar who likes to post his literally stormy adventures with his wild crew - the more dangerous, the better. As the storm season intensifies, frightening phenomena occur that have never been seen before. Kate, Tyler and their rival teams realise they are caught in the path of multiple storm systems converging over central Oklahoma. The fight for survival begins...
